Melkar, LLC ("we", "us", "our") operates the PocSomm mobile application ("the App"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use PocSomm.

Information We Collect

Camera Images

When you use PocSomm's scanning features (wine list scanning, bottle scanning, or food menu scanning), the App captures photos using your device's camera. These images are processed to extract wine and food information.

How Images Are Processed

Captured images are transmitted to Google's Gemini AI service via Firebase for analysis. Images are sent solely for the purpose of extracting wine and food information. We do not store your images on any server. Images are transmitted directly from your device to Google and are subject to Google's data handling policies.

Location Data

If you grant permission, PocSomm uses your approximate location (accuracy of roughly 100 meters, not precise GPS) to help you find nearby wine shops. When you choose to search for wine shops, your approximate coordinates are included in an Apple Maps link that opens in the Maps app. PocSomm operates no servers of its own and does not transmit your location to us; wine-shop searches are handled by Apple Maps and are subject to Apple's Privacy Policy. You may set a saved home location to use instead of your current location.

Locally Stored Data

The following data is stored exclusively on your device:

• Scan history: Wine and food scan results (stored in app documents)
• Wine ratings: Your personal wine ratings (stored in app documents)
• Credit balance: Your scan credit balance (stored in the iOS Keychain)
• Preferences: App settings such as language, currency market, and display preferences (stored in UserDefaults)

Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not create user accounts.
• We do not collect personal identifiers (name, email, phone number).
• We do not track you across apps or websites.
• We do not use advertising identifiers.
• We do not collect analytics or usage data.
• We do not sell or share your data with data brokers.

Third-Party Services

AI Provider

When you scan, image data and extracted text are sent to Google's Gemini API for processing. Google's privacy policy applies to this data processing:

Apple StoreKit

PocSomm uses Apple's StoreKit for in-app purchases. Purchase transactions are handled entirely by Apple and are subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.

Data Retention

All data is stored locally on your device. You can delete your scan history and ratings at any time through the app's Settings. Your scan credit balance is stored in the iOS Keychain and is retained across reinstalls; it contains no personal information and is not transmitted anywhere.

Children's Privacy

PocSomm contains information about alcoholic beverages and is intended for users of legal drinking age (18 years or older). We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.
