Melkar, LLC ("we", "us", "our") operates the PocSomm mobile application ("the App"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use PocSomm.

Information We Collect

Camera Images

When you use PocSomm's scanning features (wine list scanning, bottle scanning, or food menu scanning), the App captures photos using your device's camera. These images are processed to extract wine and food information.

How Images Are Processed

Captured images are transmitted to Google's Gemini AI service via Firebase for analysis. Images are sent solely for the purpose of extracting wine and food information. We do not store your images on any server. Images are transmitted directly from your device to the AI provider and are subject to that provider's data handling policies.

In Basic mode, no images are transmitted to external services. Limited functionality is available using on-device processing only.

Location Data

If you grant permission, PocSomm collects coarse location data (approximate area, not precise GPS coordinates) to optionally tag scan sessions with a restaurant location. Location data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to external services.

Locally Stored Data

The following data is stored exclusively on your device:

• Scan history: Wine and food scan results (stored in app documents)
• Wine ratings: Your personal wine ratings (stored in app documents)
• Credit balance: Your scan credit balance (stored in the iOS Keychain)
• Preferences: App settings such as language, currency market, and display preferences (stored in UserDefaults)

Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not create user accounts.
• We do not collect personal identifiers (name, email, phone number).
• We do not track you across apps or websites.
• We do not use advertising identifiers.
• We do not collect analytics or usage data.
• We do not sell or share your data with data brokers.

Third-Party Services

AI Provider

When using Built-in AI mode, image data and extracted text are sent to Google's Gemini API for processing. Google's privacy policy applies to this data processing:

Apple StoreKit

PocSomm uses Apple's StoreKit for in-app purchases. Purchase transactions are handled entirely by Apple and are subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.

Data Retention

All data is stored locally on your device. You can delete all stored data at any time through the app's Settings. Uninstalling the app removes all stored data except Keychain items (credit balance), which can be cleared from Settings before uninstalling.

Children's Privacy

PocSomm contains information about alcoholic beverages and is intended for users of legal drinking age (18 years or older). We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.
